The SAS Hotel in Kuwait which sits on the beach in Al Bida area, has been a popular hotel for some 30 years. In 2012 the owners embarked on a major rebuilding project, retaining the existing structure but rebuilding and extending the hotel.
Ayala was awarded the interior fit-out contract in 2012 following the interior design by LWA, Lundwall Architects of Sweden, and rebranding the hotel as a Radisson Blu property. While Radisson Blu in Europe is generally recognised as
four-star properties the Kuwait project is a true five-star hotel.
The rooms were fitted out in three concepts “Naturally Cool”, “New York Mansion” and “Relax” providing guests with a choice of room scheme for their stay. The lobby is a complete new concept with individual reception desks and brightly coloured seating areas, which flow into the meeting rooms and banquet hall areas.
An additional restaurant was incorporated into a futuristic extension on the roof together with an outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the sea. A new all-day café at pool level along with a coffee shop in the lobby and Chinese specialty restaurant completed the F&B outlets.
