Following the Gulf War, Kuwait’s National Assembly building was completely renovated under the supervision of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and H.O.K., a leading international interior design consultancy.
The building’s elaborate interiors feature etched glass, bronze metalwork, custom ceramics and mosaics, as well as hand-tufted carpets and voluminous areas of acoustic wall panelling.
Once again, Ayala met the challenge, maintaining our usual high standards while under a tight deadline. Less than five months were available to deliver the finished product in time for the opening of the new assembly and a state visit by the former U.S. President George Bush.
This impressive structure, situated on the Kuwait City waterfront, was designed by Jørn Utzon, architect of the Sydney Opera House. It contains not only the parliamentary chamber, but office suites for HH Amir, HH Crown Prince, and the Speaker of the house and members of parliament, as well as several large conference and committee rooms.
